Marie A. Zigon

Marie Zigon, 68, a resident of Archbald, passed away peacefully on Wednesday night at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore. Born in Babylon, New York, Marie was the daughter of the late Edmund Ludwig and Julia Stanko Zigon.

Although quiet, Marie always knew how to brighten a room with her presence and witty comments, all of which deserved laughter. She also emanated a smile when surrounded by her family’s many animals, who always knew that Marie would provide her utmost amount of attention and love.

Marie cherished any time that she spent with her many nieces and nephews, to whom she was “Mimi.” Whether it be attending their sporting events, or every birthday celebration, they could always count on Mimi to support their successes and milestones.

Above all, Marie cherished the bond that she fostered with her sister, Juliet, who served as Marie’s caretaker for many years. Marie never took Juliet’s care for granted and appreciated Juliet’s dedication to Marie’s true happiness.

The family would like to extend a special “thank you” to the staff of Hospice of the Sacred Heart for the compassionate care given to Marie and their family.

She is survived by two brothers, Edmund and Harold Zigon; two sisters, Dorothy Cipilewski and Juliet Avery; and numerous nieces, nephews and their families.

She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Katherine Drake and Henrietta Bianchi.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Holy Cross Parish at St. Patrick’s Church, Olyphant. There will be no calling hours. Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Blakely.
