Rose Stine, 92, a lifelong resident of Olyphant, died on Wednesday at Creekside Health & Rehabilitation Center, Carbondale. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cyril Michael Stine.
Born in Oyphant, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Anna Meka Kowalchik. She was a 1945 graduate of Olyphant High School and Scranton Business School and was employed by International Correspondence School, Scranton and Supermarket Services, Dunmore. Rose was a member of Holy Cross Parish at St. Patrick’s Church, Olyphant, formerly Holy Ghost Church.
She is survived by a son, Stephen Stine and wife, Susan of Lehighton; one grandson, Stephen Stine and wife, Laura of Willow, Alaska; one great grandson, Conifer Stine; one brother, Anthony Kowalchik and wife, Rosemary of Archbald; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was also preceded in death by one son, Michael Stine, one brother, Paul Kowalchik and one sister, Pauline Rabel.
A blessing service and emtombment will take place at Cathedral Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel Patio on Friday at 10:30am. Msgr. Michael J. Delaney, pastor at Holy Cross Parish at St. Patrick’s Church, Olyphant wil preside.
There will be no public calling hours as per Rose’s wishes.
