Robert Welsch, 82, of Peckville died on Wednesday evening at home surrounded by his family. His wife is the former Barbara Bzdick. They celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary last year.
Born in Archbald, he was a resided in Peckville for the last 48 years. He was the son of the late William and Mary Conway Welsch. Bob was a graduate of Archbald High School and attended Penn State, Worthington Campus for carpentry. He was retired from Magnotta Construction, Scranton as a foreman with over 35 years of service and was a member of Carpenter’s Local 261, currently Local 645. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy from 1956 to 1959.
Bob enjoyed going to the casinos, hunting, fishing, traveling and cruises.
The family would like to extend thanks to Allied Hospice, especially Dan, Joyce, Kristen, Denise, Maria and Joan and his special caregiver, Amy.
He is also survived by three children: Kim Opshinsky, husband, Nick of Florida, Bob Welsch, wife, Linda of Jessup and Karin Oprishko, husband, George of Archbald; six grandchildren: Ashlyn, Nathan, Nicole, Ally, Madalyn and Gavin; a brother, William Welsch and a sister Ann Mizanty, both of Eynon; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial mass will be on Tuesday at 10AM from Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, Willow Street, Peckville. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. There will be no public calling hours.
