Richard (Dick) passed away peacefully on August 20, 2023 at his home in Throop.
Dick lived a life full of love and adventure. He was a loving father, loyal brother and true friend. Dick was born on April 30,1932 in Dunmore, PA, the third son of Vincent and Catherine Coolican Sheehan. He graduated from Dunmore High School in 1950. He served in the US Navy, stationed in the Mediterranean Sea during the Korean Conflict, and then earned his associate degree from the University of Scranton. Dick worked at the Art Print Company for forty-four years, first as an accountant and later as a salesman. As salesman, he drove back and forth between Scranton to New York City almost every day.
Dick met his wife Anna while on the bus on the way to square dancing. They continued this pastime well into their marriage. He was an avid golfer and bowler. He bowled with St. Anthony’s Bowling League and then the Providence Bowling League. After retiring, he played golf five days a week at the Homestead Golf Course, hitting a hole in one on July 24, 2005.
Dick is survived by his sister Kay Billick, his brother Tommy Sheehan, his sons Vincent (Karen), Richard (Lynda) and Michael, his daughters Alice Sheehan and Marjorie (Scott) Sullivan, his sons-in-law Joseph Rebar and Stu Thomas, 16 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Anna Eutize Sheehan, his daughter Theresa Rebar, his daughter Susan Thomas, his brothers, Jack, Bob and Jimmy Sheehan and his sister, Marilyn Millan.
Friends and family may call on Thursday from 4 to 6p.m. at the Hudak-O’Shea Funeral Home, 115 Garfield Avenue, Olyphant.
Funeral mass will be held on Friday at 10a.m. at Holy Cross Parish at St. Patrick’s Church, 200 Delaware Avenue, Olyphant. All are asked to go directly to the church. Burial will follow at Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton.
