Michael J. Russen, 57, a resident of Scott Township for most of his life, died on Monday in a tragic accident near his home. His wife is the former Suzan M. Coggins. They were married on October 11, 1986.
Born in Scranton he was the son of Barbara A. Lynott Russen and the late Michael S. Russen who died on December 31, 2017. He was a 1978 graduate of Lakeland Jr./Sr. High School and received his Bachelors degree in 1982 from Roger Williams University, Bristol, RI. He was employed by Pride Mobility, Exeter.
Mike was a member of Scott Township Lions Club, Elmhurst Country Club, Olyphant Hose Co. No. 2 and was president of the Greystone Hunting Club. He enjoyed deer hunting in Pike County and various other locations, fly-fishing and was an avid golfer. A fan of the Green Bay Packers and Syracuse football and basketball teams, he also enjoyed raising cows and working in his garden. He loved his dogs, Ruby and Komar.
He is also survived by two daughters: Emily and husband, Dr. Shawn Bifano of Palmyra and Erica Russen of Scott Twp; two sisters-in-law: Elaine N. Kohut of Scott Twp. and Linda Breza and husband, Tom of Moosic; two brother-in-law: James Coggins and wife, Lisa of Brunswick, GA and Kevin J. Crowe of King of Prussia; aunt and uncle, John & Joan Russen of Horseheads, NY; nieces & nephews: Conor, Kevin and Martin Crowe, Nicholas, Natalie and Allison Kohut and Jessica Coggins.
He was also preceded in death by a sister, Kyra L. Crowe and a brother-in-law, Keith S. Kohut.
Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday at 9:30AM at Holy Cross Parish at St. Patrick’s Church, 200 Delaware Avenue, Olyphant with Msgr. Michael J. Delaney, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst.
Friends may call on Friday from 4 to 7PM at the Hudak-O’Shea Funeral Home, 115 Garfield Ave., Olyphant.
Friends are requested to go directly to church the morning of the funeral.
In lieu of flowers at the family’s request, memorial contributions may be made to Griffin Pond Animal Shelter, 967 Griffin Pond Road, S. Abington Twp., PA, 18411.
