Massaleen Da Silva Cummins, 65, of Dunmore, died peacefully at home on Tuesday with her family and close friends at her side. She was the daughter of the late Patrick and Cecelia Benn Da Silva.
Born in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, she resided in Brooklyn, New York from 1979 to 1995 and then moved to Dunmore. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister and aunt who loved to sew, cook and bake for them. She became a grandmother to every child that got to know her.
She is survived by two daughters: Elizabeth P. Cummins and Ann T. Cummins, both of Dunmore; two sons: Dudley W. Cummins of Pembroke Pine, Florida and Russell F. Cummins of Scranton; her former husband, Walter Cummins, Port Arthur, Texas; an adopted daughter, Ynka McKie of Ontario, Canada; one sister, Valcina Da Silva Mulraine and one brother, Morris Da Silva, both of St. Vincent and the Grenadines; two grandsons, Justin and Maceo Cummins: one aunt, Ivy Da Silva; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mildred Benn and Viola Martin and one brother, Leo Benn.
Funeral Services will be at held 11AM on Saturday, from the Hudak-O’Shea Funeral Home, Inc., 115 Garfield Avenue, Olyphant. The Reverend James Clyde, Chaplain for Mercy Hospice, will preside. Interment will follow in the Dunmore Cemetery.
Friends may call on Saturday morning from 10AM until the time of the service at the funeral home.
