Mary Mynyk Romanak, 98, formerly of Scott Twp., died on Thursday night at Allied Services Infirmary Skilled Nursing, Scranton. Her husband was the late Eugene Romanak. Born in Binghamton, N.Y., she resided in Scott Twp. since 1952. She was the daughter of the late Theodore Frank and Mary Stanko Mynyk. Mary was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School and was employed at the Ukrainian Working Man’s Association, Scranton. Surviving are a daughter, Arlene and husband, Randy Sundquist, of Rochester, N.Y.; grandchildren, Erin Strange and husband, Randy; Shannon Daudert and husband, Chris; Kelly Patchcoski and husband, David; and Casey Butler and husband, Josh; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by one daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Patrick McCann, two brothers and one sister. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 9:30 a.m. at the Hudak-O’Shea Funeral Home, 115 Garfield Ave., Olyphant. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Monday at 10 at SS. Cyril & Methodius Russian Orthodox Church, 135 River St., Olyphant. Fr. Nestor Iwasiw, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow at the parish cemetery, Peckville.
