Marion P. DiPietro, 82, of Olyphant, died on Monday night at Geisinger-Community Medical Center, Scranton surrounded by her family. She is survived by her husband Carmen A. They were married on April 11, 1964.
Born in Dunmore, she was a resident of Olyphant for the last 60 years. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Vinchinza Genett. Marion was a graduate of Dunmore High School and retired as manager of Jessup Senior Housing and McDade Chinchilla Apartments, Olyphant.
She was a active member of Holy Cross Parish at St. Patrick’s Church, Olyphant where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and was a faithful participant at their Adoration Chapel.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Geisinger-Community Medical Center for their compassion and care of Marion.
Marion is also survived by two sons: Carmen and wife, Lucia of Dunmore and Joseph and wife Diane of Fairfax, Virginia; four grandchildren: Joseph, Katie, Carmen and wife, Sarah, and Gianna and fiancé, Antonio Cicco; a brother-in-law, Joseph & wife, Roseanne of Dunmore and two sisters-in-law, Carol of Olyphant and Edith Cacciamani of Dunmore; also, numerous nieces and nephews, especially Francine Sirotnak and Diane Olivetti, Joseph Genett and wife, Sandra, Rocco DiPietro, David DiPietro and wife, Ginger; and close friends, Bob and Arlene Contura and many other friends.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, Francis Genett; an infant sister, Ida; a brother-in-law, Rocco DiPietro, a nephew, Joseph DiPietro Jr. and niece Chrissy DiPietro.
The funeral will be held at 9AM on Saturday from the Hudak-O’Shea Funeral Home, Inc., 115 Garfield Avenue, Olyphant. Mass will follow at 9:30AM at Holy Cross Parish at St. Patrick’s Church, 200 Delaware St., Olyphant. Friends are asked to go directly to the church. Interment will follow in the St. Michael’s Cemetery, Dunmore.
Friends may call on Friday from 4 to 7PM at the funeral home.
