John Joseph “Jack” Ehnot, 83, died Tuesday after a two-week illness. His wife, Joan Anne Mazzucca Ehnot, died in July 2019.
Born in Olyphant on March 6, 1937, he was the son of the late John and Mary Kish Chontos Ehnot, he lived in Throop, graduated from Throop High School and attended Penn State.
Jack and Joan married on Oct. 21, 1961, and spent 18 months in Fairbanks, Alaska, while Jack was stationed with the United States Army. Upon returning to Pennsylvania, they moved to Peckville, on a street with truly wonderful neighbors. Jack worked for Gentleman Janitor, Skottie Electronics and Equipment Technology Inc. He also spent 30 years teaching in his church for the Sacred Heart Faith Formation, preparing young people for confirmation. He was loved by everyone, and enjoyed all children, being silly and making jokes.
Jack is survived by two daughters, Jacqueline Earle and husband, Shawn; and Jennifer Davis and her companion, Mark Powell; and the three grandchildren he raised, Gabrielle Parker, Joshua Davis and Erika Davis.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Bernard and Richard Ehnot.
Jack was very grateful for the wonderful care provided to him by his daughter, Jennie Davis and granddaughter, Erika Davis.
A private graveside service will be held in the future.
