Gertrude Ann Malahosky

Gertrude “Kady” Malahosky, 89, of Scott Twp. died on Friday at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore. Her husband, John Malahosky, died in 1954.  Born in Scott Twp. to the late Julius and Victoria Solomion Zabrowski, she also resided in Greenfield Twp., where she was a graduate of Greenfield Township High School. She retired from Stillmeadow School, Scott Twp. Kady enjoyed going to the casino and the B&B Restaurant with family and friends. A special “thank you” to nieces and nephews, Linda and Leonard Olechna, Julie Ann Zabrowski, Richard Olechna and Jean, Barb and Paul Weinschenk and Jennifer Olechna; also, her caregiver Fatima, who is now part of our family; and Fr. Kirwin for all the visits and blessings he gave. Additionally, Dr. Lisa Robertson, Dr. Stephen Sorokonich and Dr. James Loomis, the staff at Mountain View Care Center, Scranton; and Hospice of the Sacred Heart for the compassionate care given to her. Linda would also like to thank her coworkers at Elan Gardens for their unending support. Surviving are a daughter, Linda Hughes and companion, James Costanzo of Jermyn; a sister, Irene Maciaszek and husband, Alex, of Garfield, N.J.; and many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Mary; four brothers, Henry, Walter, Julius “Junior” and Edward Zabrowski; three sisters, Steffee Olechna, Betty Bahleda and Helen Delores Kapinus; a nephew, Edward Zabrowski Jr.; and two nieces, Kathy Terry and Maryann Holgate. Mass will be held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. John Vianney Parish at Corpus Christi Church, Scott Twp. Burial will take place in St. Mary Czestochowa Cemetery, Eynon. Friends may call on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Hudak-O’Shea Funeral Home, 115 Garfield Ave., Olyphant.  Contributions may be made to Hospice of the Sacred Heart, 600 Baltimore Drive, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702; or St. John Vianney Parish, 704 Montdale Road, Scott Twp., PA 18447.
