Francis X. Coleman, 91, a lifelong resident of Carbondale died on Friday night at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore. His wife is the former Rosemary Mussari. They celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary on November 12th.
Born in Carbondale, he was the son of the late Francis D. and Mary Langan Coleman. Francis was a 1948 graduate of Fell High School and salesman at Mussari Auto Parts. Carbondale. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving during the Korean War.
The family would like to extend thanks to DaVita Dialysis Center in Childs, PA, Regional Hospital of Scranton eighth floor staff and Hospice of the Sacred Heart for the excellent care that Francis received.
He is also survived by five children and their spouses: Francis and Laura Devitt Coleman, York, Michael and Barbara Clift Coleman, Vandling, Rosemary Bertinelli, Manasquan, New Jersey, Joseph Coleman, Marlton, New Jersey and Patrick and Doreen Hudak Coleman, Carbondale; ten grandchildren; several great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by siblings: Joan Caviston, John Coleman, Mary Ward and Yvonne Bohlig and a grandson, Anthony.
Funeral mass will be on Friday at 11AM at St. Rose of Lima Parish, 6 North Church Street, Carbondale presided by Rev. Andrew Kurovsky, Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, Peckville, concelebrated by Rev. Charles P. Connor and Rev. Jeffrey J. Walsh, pastor. Interment will follow at Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township.
Family and friends may call on Thursday from 4 to 7pm at Brennan & Brennan Funeral Home, 55 Lincoln Avenue, Carbondale. Friends are asked to go directly to the church the morning of the funeral.
In lieu of flowers and food, please make a donation in Francis’ name to a charity of the donor’s choice.
