Don Newman, 79, of Lake Ariel died on Wednesday at Regional Hospital of Scranton after complications due to surgery. His wife is the former Linda Jo Ott; they would have celebrated their 40th anniversary on August 27th. Born in Greenville, Texas, he resided in Lake Ariel for over 20 years. He was the son of the late Ernest and Ruth White Newman and was a Navy Veteran of the Korean Conflict and a member of Paul Sweeny American Legion Post 507. Don, a retired truck driver, enjoyed golfing, watching western movies and traveling. He will be missed by all who knew him. He is also survived by two sons: Don Newman and wife, Peggy of Burleson, Texas and Denis Newman of Berryville, Virginia; one daughter, Renee Newman Liljeros and husband, Randy Scott of Brick Township, NJ; twin girls, Amy & Jamie Newman, at home; grandchildren: Nathaniel and Nicholas Newman and Olivia and Marcus Liljeros; one sister, Janice Kay Rudel and husband, Sam of Crowley, Texas; nieces and nephews in Virginia, Texas and Georgia. He was also preceded in death by 2 brothers: Gary Ken and Jim Edd Newman. A celebration of life will be held at 2PM on Sunday, August 27th at Salem Township Park Pavilion, Cemetery Road, Hamlin. Interment will be in Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Road, Newtown, PA.
