Dolores Curtis McCarthy

Dolores Curtis McCarthy passed away on May 20, 2025, in Chandler, AZ. She was born in Scranton, PA, on May 25, 1942 and later resided in Olyphant and Lakewood, PA before moving to Arizona. Dolores graduated from St. Patrick High School in Olyphant, PA in 1959, and Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in 1962. She was a dedicated nurse for 50 years serving the people of Scranton, PA and Mesa, AZ.

She is survived by her daughter Kathleen Kubilus and son-in-law Louis Kubilus of Chandler, AZ; her grandson Brandon Kubilus, granddaughter Janeen (Thomas) Pocza, and great-grandchildren Elise Kubilus and Bryan Pocza; brothers Patrick (Maureen) Curtis, Jamie Curtis and Tim (Maureen) Curtis; sister Karen (Bob) Brown and sister-in-law Mary Kay Curtis; multiple nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

Dolores was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Callista O’Hara Curtis, brother P.J. Curtis, and former husband Patrick J. McCarthy.

Dolores will be remembered for her ability to make friends wherever she went. She will be missed immensely by her family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made in memory of Dolores to Saint Joseph’s Center, 2010 Adams Avenue, Scranton, PA 18509.

Memorial services will be private at the convenience of the family. Local arrangements are under the direction of the Hudak-O'Shea Funeral Home, 115 Garfield Avenue, Olyphant, PA, 18447.
