Barbara Gloss, 65, of Throop, died on Sunday at VNA Hospice @ Community Medical Center, Scranton. She is survived by her husband, Peter. They celebrated their 29th wedding anniversary on February 11 and also, her birthday. She was the daughter of the late Stephen and Kay Kowalski Murcko.
Born in Dickson City, she resided in Throop for the last 29 years. She was a graduate of Dickson City High School, Class of 1952 and the treasurer of their reunion committee. She was a member of St. Mary’s Visitation Church, Dickson City and was employed by B. & G. Pants and Haband Co., Inc. with 25 years of service. She was a member of Amalgamated Garment Union. Barbara was an inspiration to her family and friends and was an avid football and baseball fan. She also loved cooking and baking for her family and friends.
She is also survived by one son, Marc Murcko of Throop, who is a member of the Throop Police Dept.; one sister, Marcella McSain of Johnson City, NY; one grandson, Stephen Murcko and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral will be at 9AM on Thursday, from the Hudak-O’Shea Funeral Home, Inc., 115 Garfield Avenue, Olyphant, with Mass at 9:30AM at St. Mary’s Visitation Church, St. Mary’s Square, Dickson City. The Msgr. Stanley Piorowski, pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at the funeral home. Christian Wake Services will be held during this time.
