Alicia Sefchik of Blakely, died on Friday night at home with her family by her side. She was the daughter of the late Edward and Helen Girton Antoine.
Born in Scranton, she was raised in Justus and later moved to Blakely. She was a 1973 graduate of Scott High School, Scott Township.
Alicia was a retired registered nurse supervisor formerly working for Lackawanna County Healthcare Center. She also owned and operated Alicia Seashore Getaways.
Alicia was a humanitarian at heart. She loved to volunteer at St. Francis of Assisi Kitchen and worked for Hands Across America. She also held a blackbelt in Karate, enjoyed drawing, loved her cats and bird “Sammy”, enjoyed going to flea markets, bus trips to Ocean City and raising her indoor plants.
Alicia is survived by three daughters: Crystal Walter and husband Bill Higgins of New Jersey, Kristen Sefchik of Blakely and Dr. Candice Sefchik of Blakely and fiancé Dr. Erik Blomain of Dunmore; two grandchildren: Bryce and Amelia Higgins; her former husband, Christopher Sefchik; a sister, Dawn Nye; a nephew, Brandon Nye; two nieces: Lindsay and Kayleen Nye; cousins: Joan Schultz and Robert Brown; and best friend Vicki Schimelfenig.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Edwin Antoine.
In lieu of a viewing, a gathering for family and friends to celebrate Alicia’s life will be held on Friday from 6 to 9PM at Fiorelli Catering, 1501 Main Street, Peckville. All who knew Alicia are welcome to come and pay their respects. Please stop in and share your stories of our mother.
