Alice Pitera, 96, a resident of Elizabeth Church Manor, Binghamton, NY passed away peacefully on October 19, 2024.
Her parents were the late Theodore and Rose Fedorchak Malhenzie. She was also preceded in death by a son, Robert W.; and two brothers: Walter and Theodore “Ted” Malhenzie. Alice is survived by a son Walter (Janice) of Binghamton, NY; a granddaughter, Kelly of Oslo, Norway; a grandson Jack (Jenna) of Albany, NY; two great grandsons: Sean and Theodore “Teddy”; a sister-in-law, Vivian Malhenzie of Mechanicsburg PA; nieces and nephew, Debra, Denise, and Mark.
Born in Olyphant, she resided there most of her life before moving to Binghamton, NY in 2013 to be near her son and daughter-in-law. Alice was a graduate of Olyphant High School, Class of 1945 and attended Lackawanna Business School, Scranton. She retired from Warner Communications, Olyphant with 28 years of service. She was a lifelong member of SS. Cyril & Methodius Ukrainian Catholic Church, Olyphant.
The family would like to thank the entire staff of Elizabeth Church Manor for the care and compassion they showed Alice during her stay there.
Divine Liturgy will be held on Saturday at 11a.m. at Ss. Cyril and Methodius Ukrainian Catholic Church, 135 River St., Olyphant with Fr. Nestor Iwasiw, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at the parish cemetery, Peckville.
Friends may call on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30a.m. at the Hudak-O’Shea Funeral Home, 115 Garfield Avenue, Olyphant.
