Dennis Joseph Canny

Dennis J. Canny, 78, of Vero Beach Florida, died peacefully on December 23, 2015. Born in Bronx, New York, he was the son of Denis and Winifred McGeehan Canny. He was a graduate of Cardinal Hayes High School, Bronx, New York and a US Marine Veteran. He was employed as an international union organizer working in New York and later, Washington, D.C. He is survived by one sister and brother-in-law, Catherine and Thomas Liston; two brothers-in-law, Patrick O'Shea and Frank Strcich; many nieces, nephew, great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by three sisters: Patricia Meehan, Winifred O'Shea and Mary Strcich; two nephews: Christian Strcich and Michael Meehan; and one niece, Karen O'Shea Field A celebration of life service was held in Whynot, NC on July 19th with family members from Washington, California, New York, Pennsylvania, Florida, South Carolina and North Carolina. Dennis was buried on Saturday, April 16, 2016 in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, New York with his parents.
