Stephen P. Stoffey

Stephen P. Stoffey, 67, of Peckville, died on Thursday morning at Hospice Preferred Choice, MidValley Hospital, Peckville. His wife is the former Romayne Mizerak. They celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary in August. Born in Jessup, he was a resident of Peckville for most of his life. He was the son of the late John and Mary Youshock (Yevcak) Stoffey. He was educated in the Jessup schools and graduated from Pennsylvania State University and Elizabethtown College. Mr. Stoffey was a U.S. Army veteran, stationed at Travis Air Force Base. He retired in 1994, working as a housing analyst for the Commonwealth of PA, Redevelopment Authority of Scranton and worked previously at Mayflower Showcase, Jessup. He was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Church, Olyphant and a former member of the Imperial Club, Jessup. He is survived by one daughter, Janine, Philadelphia; two sisters, MaryAnn Medenski, Jessup and Katherine Casciari of New Hampshire and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by three brothers, John, Joseph and Peter and two sisters, Anna Voroschak and Eleanore Grabania. The funeral will be held at 9AM on Saturday from the Hudak-O’Shea Funeral Home, Inc., 115 Garfield Avenue, Olyphant. Mass will be at 9:30AM at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Lincoln Avenue, Olyphant. The Reverend Kenneth Kizis, pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Montdale. Friends may call on Friday from 6 to 9PM at the funeral home. Christian wake services will be held at 6:15PM.
