Thelma Scaramuzzo

Thelma Kitchen Scaramuzzo, R.N., 86, of Peckville died early Friday morning at Mercy Hospice.  She was the wife of Frank Scaramuzzo who died May 17, 2000.  Born March 25, 1918 in Carbondale, daughter of the late William and Lelia Reed Herman and step-daughter Allen MacNeal.  She attended Scranton schools and was a 1937 graduate of Scranton Technical High School.  She graduated from the West Side Scranton Hospital School of Nursing in 1939 as a Registered Nurse.She was employed at the MidValley Longterm Center, now the Lackawanna Co. Healthcare Cente, Blakely from 1972 to 1986.  After retiring, she did volunteer work at Mercy Hospice.She was a loving person and in her early years enjoyed crocheting, pinochle and golf.  Later in life she and her husband loved to travel across the country to visit family.  She also loved to cook Italian meals for her family.Surviving are four daughters:  Janet Borick, Carbondale, Marion Defibaugh, Hummelstown, Susan Pellicano, Olyphant and Angela Andreoni, Henderson, NV; three sons:  Everitt Kitchen, Cincinnati, OH, Robert Kitchen, Charlotte, NC and Arthur Scaramuzzo, Clarks Summit; a sister, Ruth Parkins, Elmhurst; 13 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; great-great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.She was  preceded in death by a brother, William Herman.The funeral will be Monday from the Hudak-O’Shea Funeral Home, 115 Garfield Ave., Olyphant with services at 10AM in the First United Presbyterian Church, Delaware St., Olyphant by the Rev. Virginia Miner, pastor.  Interment in Abington Hills Cemetery, So. Abington Twp.Friends may call Sunday 5 to 8PM.Memorial contributions may be made to the Area Agency on Aging or Mercy Hospice.
