Mary E Symons

March 23, 1913 — September 2, 2004

Mary E. Symons, 91, of Olyphant, died on Thursday morning at home.  She was the widow of Mansell V. Symons who died in 1974.Born in Archbald, she lived in Olyphant for the last 10 years, but resided in Blakely most of her life.  Her parents were James and Mary Moran.  She was educated in Archbald schools and was a member of St. Patrick’s Church, Olyphant.  She was a former member of the Archbald Social Club and was previously employed as a seamstress by Peggy Ann in Peckville.She loved traveling, camping, sewing, crocheting, and knitting and was known to her family as a great fudge maker.  She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister who will be greatly missed.She is survived by two daughters and their husbands: Helen A. & Albert P. Picchio of Olyphant and Mary Jane B. & Richard T. Kaszuba of Blakely; one sister, Rose Waerhouse of Archbald and 2 brothers: William Moran of Ronkonkomo, NY and James Moran of Chapman Lake; 8 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.The funeral will be held at 10:30AM on Saturday from the Hudak-O’Shea Funeral Home, Inc., 115 Garfield Avenue, Olyphant.  Mass will be at 11AM at St. Patrick’s Church, Delaware St., Olyphant.  The Reverend Richard Cirba, pastor of Holy Trinity Church, Swoyersville will officiate.  Interment will take place in Union Cemetery, Peckville.Friends may call on Friday from 6 to 9PM at the funeral home.  Christian wake services will be held during this time.Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Preferred Choice, 749 Northern Blvd., Clarks Summit, PA, 18411.
