Marie Dziki

Marie Dziki, 96, of Blakely, died on Sunday at Mid Valley Hospital, Peckville.  She is survived by her husband, Steve, who she met at a Broadway ballroom in New York City in 1935.  They were married on November 20, 1937.   Born in Calabria, Italy, she moved to North Bergen, NJ at the age of three and resided there until she married and moved to Brooklyn, NY.  She and her husband retired in 1985 and moved to Blakely to be near their relatives.  Daughter of the late, Santo and Rose Rossi Veltri, she graduated from North Bergen High School and was a dressmaker and designer by trade in New York and New Jersey.   She is also survived by one son, John of Denver, CO, formerly, Las Vegas, NV; one daughter, Stephanie Monaco and husband, Larry, Allentown; 3 grandchildren: Jason, Danielle and Adam Monaco; 4 great grandchildren: Aminah, Adam, Miriam and Abdullah Monaco; over 100 nieces and nephews, including: a special great-great niece, Diane Sumski, her husband, Eddie and their children, E.J. and Gina; nephew, Joseph Dziki and niece Roseann Jackson.   She was preceded in death by a brother, Philip Veltri.   The family would like to thank the nursing staff at The Laurels and Mid Valley Hospital for their excellent care.   Mass was celebrated on Tuesday at St. Mary of the Visitation Church, St. Mary’s Square, Dickson City by Msgr. Patrick J. Pratico.  Entombment followed in St. Mary’s mausoleum.Pallbearers: Larry Monaco, son-in-law, Jason and Adam Monaco, grandsons and Eddie Sumski, great-great nephew.
