Robert J Petrone

Robert J. Petrone, 82, of Dickson City, died Sunday evening at home.  His wife is the former June A. Tokarchik.  They would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on January 27th. Born in Archbald, he resided in Dickson City for the last 40 years.  His parents were the late Dominick and Anna Petrone.  He attended Olyphant High School and was a member of St. Mary of the Visitation Church, Dickson City, Holy Name Society and was a former usher. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving as part of the Military Police during the European Theater Operation, received the Army of the Occupation Medal and was a member of VFW Shopa-Davey Post 6082, Peckville.  He retired from  General Dynamics, Eynon, with 30 years of service and was a past president of the UAW Local 1193. He is also survived by one son, Robert J. Petrone and wife, Cynthia of Jefferson Township; one daughter, Robin A. Pypiak and husband, Peter M. of Jefferson Township; grandchildren: Robert J. Petrone, Jennifer Kahler, Kyle Ann Pypiak & fiancé, John Zeoli, John Robert Pypiak; Step-Grandchildren: Nicholas Rowlands, George Rowlands & wife Heather, William Rowlands and Autumn Rockwell; 13 Great Grandchildren; one brother, Francis Petrone, Peckville; several Nieces & Nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Anthony & Joseph Petrone and two sisters, Rita King and Alice Petrone. He enjoyed painting wildlife and nature scenes, walking, fishing and trips to the casino. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 9:30AM St. Mary’s Visitation Church, 1090 Carmalt St., Dickson City.  Msgr. Patrick J. Pratico, pastor, will preside. Entombment will follow at St. Mary’s Visitation Mausoleum, Dickson City.  Military Services will be held. The family will receive friends from 8:30AM until the time of the mass as the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Hudak-O’Shea Funeral Home, 115 Garfield Avenue, Olyphant.Contributions may be made to St. Francis of Assisi Kitchen, 500 Penn Avenue, Scranton, 18509 or The Little Sisters of the Poor, 2500 Adams Avenue, Scranton, 18509-1515. For directions or on-line condolences, please visit www.hudak-osheafuneralhome.com.
