Margaret Mary Fitzgerald

Margaret Mary “Mazie” Fitzgerald, 95, of Throop, died on Sunday at Abington Manor Nursing Home, Clarks Summit.  Her parents were the late William and Sarah Corcoran Fitzgerald.Born in Throop, she was a lifelong resident.  She was a graduate of St. Patrick’s High School, Olyphant and graduated with a Bachelors degree from Mansfield State Teachers College and received her Master’s degree from Penn State University.Mazie was a music teacher and retired from Lackawanna Trail School District.She was a lifelong member of St. Patrick’s Church, Olyphant, now Holy Cross Parish.  Her true loves were her family, her faith, music and golf.  She was the Elmhurst Country Club Women’s Champion in 1968, 1972 and 1975.She is survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.She was also preceded in death by 5 brothers: William, John, Benedict, Robert and Francis “Shilly” who died in 2007.Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30AM at Holy Cross Parish at St. Patrick’s Church, Delaware St., Olyphant by the Rev. Jeffrey Paulish.
