Mary Jane Unger

Mary Jane Unger, 67, of Olyphant, died on Friday morning at home. She is survived by her husband of 31 years Steven Henry Unger. They were married on October 3, 1981.Born in Danbury, CT, she was the daughter of the late Fred G. and Adeline Burleigh Beemer.A graduate of Dunmore High School and Keystone Junior College, she was employed as a legal secretary for many years and retired from Verizon Communications.She was a member of Dunmore United Methodist Church where she served as Treasurer for over 25 years, Sunday School Teacher, Trustee, member of the Administrative Board, Sanctuary Choir and Dunmore Singers. Her favorite pastimes were doing crossword puzzles and baking.She is also survived by a step-daughter, Denise Annette Unger Davis of Paris, TN and a step-son; Steven Eugene Unger of Gautier, MS; three grandchildren; two great-grandsons; godson, Ron Slaboda of Taylor; many cousins and her constant companion Doodlebug.A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 10AM at Dunmore United Methodist Church basement with Rev. Drew Cottle officiating.
