Michael “Mike” Chrzan, 77, of Peckville, died Sunday morning at VNA Hospice at Geisinger-CMC, Scranton, after a long illness. Mike was born in Mayfield on June 13, 1936, the son of the late Michael and Genevieve Kloskosky Chrzan. His wife of 42 years is the former Joan F. Kisel.He graduated from Mayfield High School in 1954 and later graduated from Lackawanna Junior College and the University of Scranton with an accounting degree. On 17 April 1971, he married the love of his life, Joan. He began his accounting career at Chemplast in New Jersey and Massachusetts. He later returned to the Scranton area and retired from Chamberlain Corp., Scranton.He was a devoted member of Holy Cross Parish at St. Patrick’s Church, Olyphant. He loved his Polish heritage and in earlier years enjoyed golfing, watching sports and listening to polka music. He was a caring and loving husband who loved spending time with his sister-in-law, Alberta.He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Alberta Kisel, Blakely and a brother, Richard Chrzan, Seelyville.The family extends its deepest thanks to special friend and caregiver, Rita Piotrowski, the nurse’s aides and staff of Traditional Home Health Care and Hospice, Dr. Thomas Majernick and staff, Dr. Umerick and staff and nurses at Geisinger-CMC-ICU and VNA Hospice.Arrangements are under the direction of Hudak-O’Shea Funeral Home, 115 Garfield Avenue, Olyphant.
